First Light - Xi Hu Long Jing (Dragon Well) 西湖龍井
The very first leaves of spring. Picked before dawn on a single day in March, when the buds are still tight and sweet. This is Dragon Well at its most precious — first pluck from heirloom bushes on Shi Feng Shan.
What makes it different: Traditionally handmade in small clay woks, the old way. You can taste the care in every sip — sweet cream and lemon zest up front, chestnut warmth at the finish. The umami hangs around longer than you'd expect, like a good hug.
This isn't everyday tea. This is "my daughter got into college" tea. "I finished the project" tea. "I remembered to water myself" tea.
Brew: 175°F, 2 minutes. Watch the leaves unfold vertically — that's the sign of real First Pluck.
The truth: We got 8 kilos. When it's gone, we wait for next March.
